City Declares Citywide Parking Ban 10:00 PM Friday, March 3 Through 6:00 AM Sunday, March 5
Due to timing of this storm and the amount of snow expected, City declares parking ban for both Friday and Saturday nights
The City of Portland has declared a Citywide Parking Ban beginning at 10:00 PM Friday, March 3 and ending at 6:00 AM on Sunday, March 5. Due to the timing of this storm and the amount of snow expected (12-18 inches), the City is declaring a two-night parking ban for both Friday and Saturday nights.
This means residents can park their cars in the designated snow ban lots and garages and leave them there until Sunday morning. The City does not want residents to have to move their cars on Saturday morning during the height of the storm. This will allow Public Works crews to be more efficient with keeping streets clear.
Vehicles left on city streets after 10:00 PM tonight can be towed at the owner’s expense. Please note, because this ban is in effect on a Friday night, remember that the downtown district has later tow times to accommodate dining, concerts, and other entertainment activities. View this map with downtown towing start times.

SIDEWALK SNOW REMOVAL REGULATIONS
-
The City’s sidewalk snow removal ordinance requires business owners to remove snow and ice from sidewalks abutting their property 12 hours following a winter storm, and residential owners to clear snow and ice abutting their property 18 hours following the end of a storm or when the City finishes snow removal operations, whichever is later.
-
Business owners who fail to remove snow and ice within these time frames risk facing a $250 fine for the first offense, $500 for the second offense within the same winter season and $1,000 for any subsequent offense within the same winter season. Additionally, should the city have to remove the snow and ice or arrange for its removal, the property owner will be charged for the cost of removal plus a 10% charge for administration.
-
Residential owners can be fined $75 for the first offense, $125 for the second offense in the same winter season and $250 for any subsequent offense in the same winter season. Like business owners, should the city have to remove the snow and ice or arrange for its removal, the property owner will be charged for the cost of removal plus a 10% charge for administration.
