WENA Board Meeting
March 24, 2021,   6:00pm.   Zoom

Present:  Kim Sutton, Barbara DeSerres, Bryan VanDussen, Ian Jacob, Liz Persons, Pamela Shaw, Leana Good-Simpson, Gwynne Williams, Christian Bisimwa

Secretary’s Report:  No previous minutes were presented.

Treasurer’s Report:
 
The $35 reimbursement to Bryan is for the annual Secretary of State filing.
The outstanding $500 is to Andrea Southworth who has not deposited our check, yet.  I mailed it on Feb 16th or thereabout. For tonight’s meeting.

Bus Routes:
 Invited guest, Roseanne Graef, suggested a strategy for dealing with changes in Metro bus routes city wide.  Great concern was expressed over the elimination of many residential stops.
Social media and contacts list can be used to spread information throughout neighborhoods.
WENA could serve as an information conduit.
A Metro representative will be invited to the April 14 meeting for a listening session.
 
Grant Money: 
Pamela sent a report to Maine Med. concerning a grant.
 
Earth Day:
West End Annual Cleanup was proposed for Earth Day(April 22) or the following Saturday (April 24).   Brian and Pamela will coordinate this effort.  Kim will make flyers.  Strive students will be invited to participate.
Pamela will submit a schedule of HarborView Park work dates. April 24 and May 1 were proposed.
 
 
City Charter Candidate Forum:
District 2 candidates will be invited to present at the next WENA meeting (April 14).  The University neighborhood assn. will host a forum for at-large candidates.
 
Web Hosting:
Free hosting is no longer available.
We need to switch to another server.   Brian suggested Green Light. Word Press is $10 monthly.
It was approved to give Clifford a $75 thank you gift certificate to a local restaurant.
 
Vaccines:
Christian updated us on a vaccine effort at 237 Oxford St., which he is coordinating.
